Here is a strategy to find out what changes in your room will make a big difference, and some ideas for solving some common interior design problems.

Find out what is really bothering you.

When you see a room and feel the need to change it, take a deep breath and try to understand what you really don't like. Is this fabric? Is this the color? Is that furniture from your grandmother that you think you should love, but always hate? Does the room feel cold? Does it feel cramped? Does it feel empty? Is there a lost atmosphere? Is it too modern, or too old? Is it too dark or too bright?

How did you feel when you entered the room? Do you want to be comfortable? Being Antiqued convex mirror light and airy? Do you want to feel overwhelmed by space or freed by it? Should it be white and bright, warm and calm, or flamboyant and bright?

Solution:

If you see the question above, some of the answers are quite easy. If it's fabric, change it. If you are practical, it's easy to hang a new mosquito net over the window, or make your own blanket for a straight dining chair. A piece of rectangular cloth is thrown onto a small round table, along with a few coordinated pillowcases (4 straight stitches), and your entire room is new. With fabric glue today, you don't even need a sewing machine for a simple project; all you need is scissors.

Slipcovers have come a long way. The manufacturer even provides individual pillowcases, not just the big throw. Their products are far more sophisticated these days than the big bags in your furniture.

Blinds are available wherever you are. A pair of sheer can provide privacy without filtering light. And there is a certain romance to the silhouette of the outside world through people's transparency.

If you are looking for atmosphere, how about trying one of the new electric or gel guns today. Jel fireplace has a real fireplace charm without ventilation or chimney. This fireplace uses isopropyl alcohol at the base of the gel and comes in countless styles. Each fuel can burn for 2 ½ to 3 hours with crackle and a real fire, hidden behind a ceramic rod. The fireplace emits a little heat, but it will warm a cold room. They don't need anything except about 4 'wall space. Many have bookshelves, storage or entertainment units built on mantles.

If the room looks too small, a mirror always helps reflect light. It's amazing how mirrored walls can double the size of a small room.

Another way to open a room is to make a fake window, or even a pair of French doors. A window can be built from simple pieces of wood, surrounded by trim or shutters, has a sill, which can be used as a ledge for plants or accents, and either part of a wallpaper, photo, light box or other attractive image behind it for display . To find a package for a window, follow the link at the bottom of this page.

Color and lighting make a big difference in a room. If your room is too cold, deepen the color, or add another color ribbon. The walls are beautiful canvas. You don't have to be an artist to paint circles, or giant lines, with colors that complement your fabric or carpet. Wall sconces can add rows of lighting without the need for electricians, and many of the latest floor lamps combine side tables and light into one.

Adding flokati carpets to deep piles creates smoothness on the floor, while freshly applied wooden floors provide a sparkle, and a feeling of space. Imagine a fake fur carpet in front of a woman's fireplace, strategically placed dims and a few candles, and your ordinary room has been transformed into a romantic nest.

Determine space, even in small rooms. Silk plants are now very elegant, and don't need to be watered. Beautiful arrangement on a small console table with spot type light, can focus attention on the area. Adding a pair of pilasters or half columns in a 19th century convex mirror dark alley can separate the room into pieces that can contain artwork on the wall, and museum type lighting.

Wallpaper has come a long way. Currently there are many wallpaper murals, which can be as big as 9 'high and 12' wide or more. Made to look like everything from English countryside paintings to photographs of snow boards, they change your room in an instant. For a child, why not consider the Cinderella border of 4.5 'high 12' long on one wall, or scene s
