The truck driving school consists of a rigorous program that teaches qualified applicants how to operate and maneuver large "Big Rigs" on open roads through cities, highways, and severe traffic conditions. Depending on specific country regulations, most programs require 40 hours of basic tractor / trailer basic training and 120 hours of field training before receiving a certified diploma.

After attending a truck driving school, students have the choice to choose from one of three programs where graduates will receive either a Class A Commercial Driver License, a Class B Commercial Driver License, or a Forklift Certification License. Each license corresponds to the specific truck that the student wants to operate when he graduates. The class issued to the driver depends on the type and weight of the vehicle.

1. Class A

A person can drive any combination of vehicles under Class B and Class C and can tow a single vehicle with a Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR) of more than 10,000

2. Class B

One can drive one vehicle with BVWR of more than 26,000 lbs, a 3-axle vehicle weighing more than 6,000 lbs, a bus with support, and each farm laborer vehicle. However, it can only tow vehicles with a 10,000 lbs GVWR. or less.

3. Forklift Certification

One can operate and inspect any type of forklift including:

o High lift trucks

o Offset trucks

o Cantilever trucks

o Truck drivers

o Forklift trucks

o High lift platform trucks

o Low lift trucks

o Low lift platform trucks

o Motorized hand trucks

o Pallet trucks

o Narrow aisle driver's truck

o Straddle trucks

o Reach the driver's truck

o Single-sided loading trucks

o High picker picker lift trucks

o Motorized hand drivers / trucks

o Rough terrain trucks

There are currently 3.5 million truck drivers in the United States, with a total employment in the industry of more than 8.7 million. This implies that one out of every 15 people working in the United States works in the trucking industry. Most truck driving schools have full-time placement professionals who assist students in finding employment after graduation.

The average graduate from a truck-driving school earns around $ 36,000 or more there the first year as a beginner level driver. As the trucking industry continues to grow, there is a shortage of professional truck drivers in several segments of the trucking industry. At present, there is a shortage of about 20,000 truck drivers per year in the United States. These results indicate that the demand for professional truck drivers is growing faster than the number of new drivers entering.
